General

I recently decided to buy Nintendo DSI. I became interested in this console after my teenagers started playing it. One night, my oldest was out of the house, and I decided to check it out. I knew that my brother’s kids had one too, so I called him and we played a game together. We were both hooked right then.

I have played some of the older consoles, the ones with the graphics that made your eyes ache after a half-hour of play: Duck Hunt, Donkey Kong, and some of the Mario games. That’s been quite a few years ago, though. It was back when my kids were little. Then life became so busy that I didn’t take the time to play much. The kids have each other to play with, so asking Dad to get involved was a rare occurrence.

I was really impressed with the ease of the system. I was able to pick it up and figure it out with no problem. My brother walked me through some of it, but once I caught on, it was easy. We were on the phone and on the game system at first, then we hung up and communicated through the chat option that the system offers.

After that night, I made myself a promise to purchase one. Not just one for me, but one for my brother too. Now, when the kids are on the Internet with their games, we can play too. When we are up late at night, I have my own system to use and he almost always joins me.

I do find that we tend to like the updated versions of the older games, like Mario, more than some of the new games. We also love to be silly when the kids aren’t looking, and use the interactive camera to take some interesting pictures of our weird faces.

My kids are glad I made the decision to buy Nintendo DSI. It means that they can challenge me once in a while, and I have my own system to use. When my oldest daughter went to visit my parents last month, she took hers with her, and we were able to keep in touch with the chat options and the camera. We shared photos and played games. We really had a lot of fun.

My wife has become interested in playing lately. It started when our daughter was away. She used my system, and now wants one of her own. Her birthday is next week, and guess what she is getting? Then we will be one complete gaming family.
