Playing On and On

General

Now that summer is here, I have more time to do the things I enjoy, one of which is playing my Nintendo dsi. I know that most of my friends have wondered if I even really like it, because I didn’t play much during the school year.

The fact is, I like it too much. I would begin with the intentions of only playing for an hour, and before I knew it, it had been three or more hours. I began getting behind on my home work, and was faced with the truth, I love gaming more than many other things. Now that summer is here, I can play more than just on weekends, I can play whenever I want to and there is no problem to playing on and on.

When my parents said I could buy dsi, they also said that if it interfered with my school work that it would be taken away. So, rather than allow that to happen, I made my own rules for it. I only played on weekends or after homework. Being late with my homework once was enough to show me that I needed to do something so that I didn’t lose my privileges of gaming.

Once I was out for the summer, the real fun began. I entered a gaming competition with the prize being free apps and exclusive games. In order to win, you had to be able to effectively use all the options available with the game system and score high at the same time.

My favorite options to use are the music and chatting. I also like the photo sharing, but if I could only choose two things, it would be the first two mentioned. That’s because talking to the person you are playing adds a sense of intimidation that isn’t there without it, and the music I choose ends up helping me play better. I don’t know if it’s because of the rhythm, or because I move and think better to music.

I’m glad my parents let me buy dsi. It has brought me to the place of being able to improve my gaming skills, share with friends, and become good at something that is very popular. Summer fun has just begun, and when school begins again, I will have to set new limits, but in the meantime I am enjoying it and becoming better and better at it.
