Nintendo DSi Reviews

I’ve had a few Nintendo products and love them all. When I heard that you could buy the Nintendo DSi in the states, I immediately rushed out to get it. I worried that Nintendo had bit off more than they could chew, but, at the same time, was excited to get my hands on a new handheld video game, especially one that had the great reviews that the Nintendo DSi had.

The Pros

There are tons of pros to go over. Let’s see – first of all, the game system is built almost exactly like the Nintendo DS, which means that it’s easy to hold, especially if you’ve held one before. The minute you pick up the stylus you can figure out what to do with it, again, especially if you’ve owned a DS at some point in your life. The colors are limited right now, but the DS colors were limited when it first came out as well, so they’ll likely get better in the next year or so.

When you buy Nintendo DSi you get the DSi system, the battery, the charger, and the stylus, of course. There are some places which are offering you a deal with a game included, and it’s usually a decent deal, but there aren’t many titles to buy from yet. The game charges in a few hours and, so far, it has lasted well. It gets burned out quicker if you’ve got the brightness turned up high, or if you’re hooking up to the internet, which makes sense, but the average run time so far is great.

The sound is much better than the original DS, and is even better than the DS Lite! The internet connection is also great, and it seems like it’s a bit faster than the DS was. It connects faster, that’s for sure. If you buy a Nintendo DSi and want to get online, make sure you know someone with a wireless broadband router, just as with the DS.

The Cons

The DSi isn’t cheap, and even though it’s cheaper than the other game systems, it’s still a bit for people who don’t have a lot of money. It is, however, worth it, most definitely. If you’ve read many Nintendo DSi reviews, you’ll know that everyone, from kids to adults, loves this system.

The internet is a bit faster, but it’s nothing like a regular broadband connection, so while you may be able to check your email, don’t think that you’ll have an easy time checking your MySpace account on the machine.  A big problem is figuring out where to buy a DSi, because they’re selling out all over the place and are hard to get a hold of. If you’re vigilant, however, you’ll be able to find one, especially if you’re ready to pay a bit extra for the product, much like it was when the Wii first came out.
Overall? This is an excellent handheld video game system – fun for all ages!
