Nintendo DSi Reviews

My son has been begging for us to buy a DSi for weeks, and what he doesn’t know is that we’ve got one hidden in the closet for his birthday, which is a few months away, but we have avoided giving it to him yet. That doesn’t mean, however, that we haven’t tried it yet. Whenever we buy something online, we always test it out to make sure that it works, and now that we have, it’s kind of hard to put it back!

When we opened the package, we charged up the DSi and got it running. It was really easy to start and run, which is nice because our son is only 7 and I like knowing that he’s not going to need me over his shoulder helping him learn how to run it. He may need some help getting on the DSi Store, but I don’t plan on telling him about that just yet.

We took some pictures of ourselves with an SD card in, and then promptly deleted them. But before we did, we had some fun changing the pictures and making them look silly. I was actually surprised that you could make them look really great with the program that is on the DSi, and we actually were able to make the pictures look good. We didn’t print any, so I’m not sure what they’d look like printed, but for a seven year old, on the screen is good enough!

When you buy Nintendo DSi, you only get the system, so we bought him a game too. Unfortunately I couldn’t figure out how to open the game in a way that he wouldn’t know we’d gotten into it, so I haven’t tried to play any games on it other than the notepad thing we downloaded from the DSi Store, so I’m not sure how the games will play, but the reviews we’ve read say that they will run much faster than on the DS. Not that he needs something really fast, but if you’re going to be playing a video game, why not play one that goes fast, right?

I love how it looks, but I’m worried that it will break if it’s dropped, so we’re going to look into getting some sort of strap or some sort of case for it before we give it to him. I’m sure, knowing Nintendo, that they’ll make something to help protect it, and we can likely find it in the same place you can go to when you’re looking for where to buy Nintendo DSi.

The system seems like a great one, and I can’t wait for his birthday now too, just so we can open the game and give it a good round to see how it works. I’m glad Nintendo makes kid friendly games too, so I don’t have to worry that he’s playing games that have lots of blood and gore in them.
