The DSi is popular for a reason!
I just got back from the store with the Nintendo DSi for my ten year old, and we’ve been playing with it now for about an hour. I really wanted to do a review and tell everybody that this is a really well made little game system! I expected something pretty decent for the price I had to pay for it, but I never expected truly high quality! I expected an overpriced game system! That is just not the case here at all.
I am really tickled watching my son play this neat Lego Indiana Jones game I got him. Apparently there is a microphone in the unit, and my son can actually blow into the microphone to blow out the torches in the game! I am totally amazed by that kind of really advanced technology. And plus, the body of the system is very durable. It’s made out of really good quality plastic, which is good because my son dropped his on the hardwood floor the second it came out of the box, and it still works! That’s incredible to me because I’ve seen my son break toys with much less insult.
When I went to buy Nintendo DSi, I saw all the great games they had in the glass case, and I got him three of them that I thought he would like. The Indiana Jones game is the only one that he has played with yet, obviously, since it’s only been an hour. But he’s having a lot of fun. I think I am going to look for where to buy DSi games and DS games used, like one of those exchange places. That way it won’t be so expensive to keep him in games. I did see a thing online where you can pick out the little pieces you want and buy replacements for them. I am going online as soon as I get done here and going to get an accessory pack that has extra styluses for it, because that thing is so tiny I know it’s going to get lost and I don’t think he’ll be able to play without it.
I don’t think he’s been this quiet and totally entertained in a long time. He still likes to play with toys because he’s only ten, but right now he is just sitting on the couch with his face in those little screens and he is clearly having a blast. I am so glad I decided to buy DSi for him. He really needed something fun like this especially for when it’s too rainy outside to go out and play. There aren’t any kids in our neighborhood anyway for him to play with, so even when he does go outside he is just playing all my himself and that’s no fun for him. With this game, he seems to have no problem at all just sitting there playing by himself. I am happy to see him so happy.
