Nintendo DSi - where can they go next?

Nintendo DSi Reviews

The first of the Nintendo DS game systems was the original DS, and it left much to be desired.  So much that the next one, the Nintendo DS Lite was five hundred percent better than the original.  Now, before the Lite has gotten old (in fact I don’t even think the sales of the Lite have dropped off), they are introducing the Nintendo DSi.  It is so much more advance than the DS Lite, that I can’t imagine Nintendo coming out with a fourth generation DS system.  After you’ve added all those features to a game system, where else can you go?  Well I, for one, plan to find out where to buy Nintendo DSi and go there.  Here’s why.

First, the DSi is durable so it can withstand the occasional drop- just as long as you don’t make a habit of it.  And it is built with a hinged design, just like the DS Lite.  When you open it, one screen is on the bottom and one is on the top.  When you close the unit, you just fold it in half at the hinge and the screens are protected.  That’s another thing that makes it so durable.  But all of that is true of both the Nintendo DSi system and the DS Lite system.  Plus, when the battery reaches the end of its rechargeable life, you can buy a replacement battery.  It really seems like these game systems are built to last for many years, and yet there is a new one being released every couple of years.  Out of all the Nintendo DSi reviews I’ve read, that’s the one question I haven’t seen addressed.  I do believe that it’s because the people at Nintendo spend so much time thinking up bigger and better ways to design games.  They don’t just want to get people to buy Nintendo DSi, they want them to enjoy it as much as possible.  None of this planned obsolescence stuff, they just make really good products and keep coming up with better and better ideas.  I think that’s why I don’t have a problem with going out and paying the 180 bucks it will cost to buy Nintendo DSi- because I know I’m not getting ripped off paying for something that’s going to need replaced in six months.

There is one thing that I’m going to do differently this time, and I would recommend it to anyone else who is planning to buy Nintendo DSi or even the Lite that is available now.  There are replacement batteries available for very reasonable prices, and I am going to get a couple of those when I get the DSi.  The battery is rechargeable, and it works great, but it is just the nature of rechargeable batteries to wear out after a certain number of charges.  After that, they only hold a charge for an hour or two, and they need to be replaced.  That’s why it’s a good idea to have an extra on hand for when it wears out.
