Nintendo DSi Reviews

The new Nintendo DSi is scheduled to be released sometime in the spring of 2009, although there is no definite release date set as of yet.  People are already paying close attention to all the press releases and the reviews, checking out what they’re saying about all of the new features and making sure they know where to go to get theirs.  One of the reasons why people want to know ahead of time where to buy Nintendo DSi is that they don’t want to end up at the end of any line and go home empty handed.  The whole mess with the Playstation game systems and their short stocks on release day has people in kind of a tizzy when it comes to brand new electronics.  I, for one, am glad they are not releasing it in time for Christmas this year because I can only imagine the mess that would cause.  A great new product being released just in time for people to be racing each other for Christmas presents would be a mess like no other in my mind.  With the spring release, at least people are less likely to get hurt when they line up to buy Nintendo DSi (and anyone who was watching the Black Friday news knows what I’m talking about there).

Back to the point, the new DSi system looks pretty great, even compared to the already great DS Lite system kids (and adults) are playing now.  The new system will be capable of playing the same games as the older versions of the DS, and there will certainly be some games released that can only be played on the DSi- probably games that center around internet capability to make them even more desirable to consumers.  I figure they’ll buy DSi in droves simply because of the internet capacity, but they’ve added other features as well.

To start with, when you get one, you’re getting the same great game system as the DS Lite, with the previously mentioned internet capability that will allow users to access games via the online Nintendo store and will also allow them to play games with other DSi users.  In addition to that, the system will also have a user- facing camera and an outward facing camera to take pictures with, and a slot for an SD memory card that will let users save the pictures and then use them as they would any picture taken with a regular digital camera.  That’s a pretty exciting feature.  Yet another great feature is that users will be able to listen to music through headphones, because the DSi also has a music player function- although it doesn’t play MP3 files so users will have to go to one of the free file converter websites to convert their music files before they can be downloaded to the DSi.  For the die- hard gadget lovers like me who are going to rush right out and buy this new system though, this will only be a minor glitch insufficient to inhibit their urge to buy.
