Even though I’m going on 50 (must sooner than I want) and even though I’m not looking forward to the ribbing my students are going to give me when I turn 50, there is one thing that I am looking forward to getting for my birthday. The Nintendo DSi.
I have been a fan of video games for a very long time, and unlike many of my peers, I have no problem in admitting that I enjoy gaming and what it can do for me. I find that it is extremely enjoyable to play a game or two when I’ve got a few minutes, and know that I would play much more if I had more time. This is one reason that I’m hoping to buy a Nintendo DSi for my birthday or to have it gifted to me by friends or family.
I know from reading the DSi reviews that it is much like the DS, which I have been contemplating getting for a long time. It’s smaller, though, making it easier to carry around than even the DS Lite. I know if I have something like this I’ll be able to use it when I’m in the teachers lounge between classes, and I’ll probably get caught using it before and possibly directly after school as well! But that’s okay I guess, I mean, how many old men like me want to buy a DSi for themselves to play?
I’m not quite sure what I’m looking forward to most. I know that the Nintendo DSi system allows you to play video games, of course, but I have also read that it allows you to take photos and to play online. While the photo taking is interesting, it’s the online game play that sounds the most intriguing to me. I would love to be able to play some games against some great players from across the world who were also able to buy it.
I’m not sure where to get it yet, however, but I’ll probably find somewhere online to purchase it. It would be nice if I could pre-order it, as I’m really looking forward to getting it in time for my birthday!
The one thing I know for sure that I’m going to do with it is to play. And play. And play. I love playing video games and especially enjoy the brain games that have come out that are more geared for adults than for children. These games not only keep my brain active, but they also help me to feel sharper. Research has shown that the more you use your brain, the smarter you stay, and I’m bound and determined to keep my brain as active as possible, no matter what I have to do in order to get it that way. And if playing video games is what it takes, well, it’s not too much of a torture, now, is it?
